Sheldon Witcoff is Senior Counsel to the firm of Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. He has been practicing in the firm's Chicago office for over 40 years. While at the firm, Mr. Witcoff has represented numerous clients as lead trial counsel in cases involving a wide variety of subject matter, including electronic instruments and control systems, automotive tire tread design, dialysis machines, microphones, phonograph cartridges, non-skid braking systems, hearing aids, valves, and self-focusing slide projectors. Mr. Witcoff has also worked extensively in international litigation and prosecution matters, and has testified as an expert on U.S. patent law in U.S. and foreign courts. He also has lectured at Northwestern University, Chicago Kent College, and before numerous patent bar groups.

Mr. Witcoff is a member of the bar of the District of Columbia, the state bars of New York and Illinois, the United States Supreme Court, and the bars of numerous federal district courts and courts of appeal, including the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He was a Patent Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is registered to practice before that Office.

Mr. Witcoff earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and his Juris Doctorate from George Washington University. Mr. Witcoff is a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Order of the Coif, the American Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of America, and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946.
