Rebecca P. Rokos has assisted clients in all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, licensing, litigation and trade secrets. Ms. Rokos focuses on all aspects of patent portfolio management and counseling for her clients, which include consumer goods companies and companies in the food and beverage industry. She has successfully prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications in the chemical and mechanical arts on such subject matter as chemical compounds, coating materials, agricultural products, food science technology, environmental control systems, railcar design, medical devices and packaging design. She also has experience in preparing patentability, validity and infringement opinions. Additionally, she has assisted clients with various contract and licensing matters relating to the protection and utilization of intellectual property.
Ms. Rokos also has significant experience in patent, trademark and trade secret litigation. She has actively participated in all phases of litigation, from pre-trial investigation through jury trials and appeals.
Before receiving her law degree, Ms. Rokos was employed as a project engineer for an environmental consulting firm, working on hazardous waste site remediation projects and environmental control systems, as well as providing regulatory compliance services. She also has experience with water and wastewater treatment systems.
Ms. Rokos earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois. She earned her J.D. degree from the University of Michigan where she was Executive Note Editor for the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform.
Ms. Rokos is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association and is a Registered Engineer-in-Training.
