In 2012, Matt was named to the Super Lawyers list of Illinois Rising Stars in Intellectual Property Litigation for the fifth consecutive year. The Super Lawyers Rising Stars list represents the top 2.5% of up-and-coming lawyers in Illinois who are 40 years old and under, as chosen through a peer balloting process and through the independent research of Thomson Reuters.

Matt graduated, with distinction, from Purdue University earning a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1995 while in the Honors Program. While at Purdue, Matt was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. Matt earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1998. Matt is a registered patent attorney and is admitted and to practice in Illinois and numerous federal district courts.
