Fred Meeker has over twenty years of experience handling intellectual property matters in primarily the cable, telephony, satellite, Internet, electronic program guide, and automotive industries. Mr. Meeker has served as lead trial counsel or co-lead trial counsel in more than twenty complex patent litigations. Mr. Meeker has significant experience with section 337 investigations at the United States International Trade Commission, due diligence, patent counseling and trade secrets. Mr. Meeker also has experience in contingent fee cases and in alternate fee arrangements.
Mr. Meeker has experience managing, on behalf of clients, the prosecution of large patent portfolios focused on obtaining “litigation worthy” patent claims.
Recent litigation accomplishments include:
- Obtaining a $20 million dollar jury award;
- Obtaining a very large settlement; and,
- Obtaining a judgment of non-infringement in an ITC case involving 40 different products.
Mr. Meeker is active with various bar organizations including the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law. In 2011, Mr. Meeker was named to the IAM 250 – The World’s Leading IP Strategists, published by Intellectual Asset Management magazine.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Meeker had significant industrial experience in designing hardware and software. Mr. Meeker was the lead engineer in developing network backbone components for the NSFNET (a forerunner to and now part of the Internet), a secure digital telephone, various satellite based processors, a processor for the under ice display on the Seawolf submarine, and several commercial software applications including applications for communication security, secured transactions, and digital rights management.
